Allentown Panel Shop Marcon - Allentown, PA

Allocation: $8.0M | TDC: $52.0M | Union Construction Jobs: 277 | Permanent Jobs: 82 | Commercial SF: 173,000

Building America CDE allocated $8 million in New Market Tax Credits (NMTCs) to the Allentown Panel Shop project, a $52.0 million manufacturing complex in Allentown, PA. The project involves the restoration of a 17-acre plot of land and two abandoned buildings into 173,000 square feet (SF) of modern manufacturing space. The renovated facilities will be home to Eastern Exterior Wall Systems, Inc. (EEWS), a manufacturer of exterior walls and panels for large construction projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. EEWS is a subsidiary of Marcon Enterprises Inc. (MEI), a third-generation, family- owned construction company with over 90 years of experience in the Lehigh Valley.

The Project expects to create 277 quality union construction jobs, of which 211 will be accessible. EEWS will create and retain a total of 82 permanent union jobs with fair paying wages and benefits. As a signatory to the Lehigh Valley Building Trades, MEI hires for permanent positions through the local union hall, including laborers, plasterers, tile setters, and carpenters. Building America, CDE is honored to be a part of an incredible project that is bringing high quality manufacturing jobs back to the Lehigh Valley.
