Kelvin Chan is an experienced public health professional with expertise in early childhood development, philanthropy, redesigning public systems to address inequities, and improving provider-patient relationships. Accomplished in the use of qualitative and quantitative approaches to address the public health challenges facing marginalized populations, Dr. Chan strives to solve the most complex and pressing issues of our day. He is presently the Executive Director of Black Family Philanthropies, which promotes financial and social stability for families affected by mass incarceration and supports positive impacts in the behavioral health space of public safety hospitals. Previously, he served as Managing Director of Early Education for the Robin Hood Foundation, where he led their ambitious efforts to optimize birth outcomes, maternal health, and early childhood development to fight poverty and strive for developmental justice. Prior to Robin Hood, he served as Director of Early Childhood Development for New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Dr. Chan received a Bachelor of Arts in Community Health from Brown University, Master of Public Health and Management from Columbia University, and his Ph.D. in Public Health and Primary Care from Cambridge University. He also holds a Master of Theological Studies in comparative world religions from Harvard.
